Excessing letters being mail June 20, 2014
Updated On: Jun 171, 2014

The Postal Service is moving forward in mailing excess letters to all employees identified in the excessing process.  It is a contractual requirement that employees are given a minimal of a 60 day notice of being excessed.  The time line remains January 2015 and there will be no movement before then.  When APWU met with the postal service on May 30, 2014 the timeline had changed in that "No Career Employees" will be moved until the January Move Date.  This timeline has not changed, the postal service is giving impacted employees an opportunity to bid on residual vacancies within a 50 mile radius.  Clerk Vacancies will be posted each month through eReassign for a period of 21 days until the excessing event has occurred.

The May 30, 2014  No "Career Employees" Move Until January 15, 2015 notice from APWU has information concerning senior (non-impacted) employees to volunteer in lieu of an impacted employee.  A (MOU) Memorandum of Understanding allows for: Transfer Opportunities to Minimize Excessing.  eReassign began on June 1, 2014 and will continue each month until the excessing event has occurred.  Read the May 30, 2014 notice to receive complete details concerning eReassign and senior (non-impacted) employees volunteer in lieu of an impacted employee
